Little Passports France Introduction
This Little Passports France delivery contained a ton of fun stuff including a toy tourist camera and a great recipe for King Cake. We made the Kings cake for Lila’s birthday and it was a big hit. Our guests loved the almond flavored crispy and flaky pastry. The best thing was that it was not intimidating to make and Jack was able to do a lot of it himself.

Having fun exploring this month’s box…
We always try to begin by putting our stickers where they belong. Here we are putting out map pin sticker on France and putting our sticker in our passport.
This month’s activity guide came with a maze, which Jack loves!
This month’s activity guide was tied to the online games and trivia. On the right is the boarding pass which contains the secret code to unlock the online experience.
We had to use the online secret code to complete one of the activities in the guide:
These are the ingredients we used to make the King Cake. The cake is made with puff pastry and a lot of almond flavor. The almonds had to be ground so I used my NutriBullet.
We mixed this whole egg with the almonds, almond extract, butter, and sugar.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and lay one of the puff pastry sheets on it.
Cut the puff pastry into a 10 inch circle. Spread the mixture on the pastry.
This step is the most important, it is what makes this a King Cake. You are supposed to hide a small toy (that can withstand the oven) and whoever gets that piece becomes king for a day. I have no idea what toy would withstand the oven temperature so we added a raisin. Then you have to put the other puff pastry on top and pinch down the sides. Be sure you pinch every single area, because we missed a spot and a lot of the mixture spilled out when it baked.
Brush an egg yolk and water mixture on top. We also marked the area with the raisin so we knew who to look out for when we cut up the cake.
